CLINIK: What is the significance of the name Pony Boii?

Pony Boii: To be honest, I was never book smart during my teens years and the only book I’ve ever read was The Outsiders in middle school hahahahaha Also the pony tail hair  image I have gives it away as well hahahaha

C: Who are three artists that you have been listening to recently?

PB: Lately during quarantine its been a lot of Akeos, Stardie and Delchorro.

C: How does your creative process for putting together a recorded mix for SoundCloud differ from putting together a live set?

PB: It's always the same process. Always freestyling. In my opinion, this is the only reason why I’ve gained so much growth from mixing and chopping 3-4 songs at once on a consistent basis.

C: What inspired you to become a DJ?

PB: Being 12 years old, I saw Afrojack’s Rock the House music video. Sounds crazy but I knew from just watching that at a young age it's a passion for me to deliver a crazy time/party to the people who love Riddim/Dubstep.

C: If you could go b2b with any DJ right now, who would it be and why?

PB: Zapato! The homie is from Winter Park, Florida and from what the people what and been asking for, WE’RE GONNA MAKE IT HAPPEN SOON AS COVID ENDS AND SHOWS GET BACK ON THE ROAD! Definitely check him out on Soundcloud, huge talent in the making!

C: What do you like most about the East Coast music scene?

PB: Personally, the love and support from all the states such Virginia, Michigan, Philadelphia, South Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, etc. It’s crazy how fast things can happen! It's a huge blessing.

C: Once COVID-19 travel restrictions ease up, where in the world would you like to perform one day and why?

PB: Definitely either somewhere in the west coast such as Texas or California. Huge dream to play for a crowd from a place I’ve never visited. Also Florida, the scene over there is insane and it would be a dream give the people over there the #chopszntreatment.

C: What advice would you give to anyone looking to become a DJ?

PB: Make sure it's a passion you have from the heart. Such goes for Producing. Do it because you want to. And to remember that haters come with this music shit. Don’t ever let anyone stop you from doing what you love.

C: How has COVID-19 impacted your plans for 2020?

PB: Had tons of bookings that got cancelled for big names such as Rico Act, Dirtysnatcha and also even had to cancel my first Pony Boii and friends show but when everything is back rolling, for sure expect a madness show from ya boii for my east coast fam!

C: What does the rest of 2020 have in store for you?

PB: Release tons of content such as music and exclusive mixes for huge brands, play my first festival at the end of the year if COVID won’t interfere with that and hopefully get things rolling for 2021!
