CLINIK: What is the significance of the name Xz Vznry?

Xz Vznry: The significance of the name Xz Vznry is a couple of things. I got the nickname X Z back in high school from my teacher, Q. I noticed it was already a label in LA so I had to make it unique and completely original. At the time I was super into Blurrd Vzn so I was inspired by them a bit.

C: How has the scene in Minnesota influenced your outlook on music, if at all?

XV: Minneapolis has definitely influenced me alot with my music after meeting some really dope DJs and Producers. I built a family there, but then I had to move back to lacrosse wisconsin. I'm trying to start a little scene here till I move back.

C: What initially inspired you to produce original music?

XV: I was extremely influenced by the electronic scene after my first music festival at electric forest. After DJing for a while I really just wanted to express myself using my own sounds.

C: Why do you prefer Ableton? What are your favorite tools to use for sound design?

XV: I really love Ableton with all of its stock plugins. I use almost all of them.

C: If you could go b2b with any artist, who would it be and why?

XV: I would love to go B2B with Meso. He is by far my favorite artist. I've always loved his sounds and I'm extremely inspired by him.

C: How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?

XV: I would describe my music as weird trippy Sci-Fi noises. Then explain that it's just very experimental, underground, Freeform bass music.

C: You talk about “Good Vibe Energy” and positivity a lot. How do you manage to have such a good outlook?

XV: I talk about positivity so much because I've been super depressed almost all of my life and there is a lot of negativity in the world. I'd love to make people's day and inspire them. That's what I found to make me happy.

C: You are a very unique artist. What advice would you give to up and coming artists who don’t want to hop on trends and want to create their own lane like you have?

XV: Thank you for saying I'm unique. I've always tried to be different from normal and be myself. I would tell people to try to work on sound design. Creating your own sounds is key to being more original. I make almost all of my sounds from scratch besides the drums. I also like to challenge myself and make basses out of weird funny things. like random funny clips from youtube.Biggest of all just try to have fun with it.

C: What is one venue or festival in the world that you would love to perform at?

XV: The top venue I'd love to play at, At least out of the ones I've been to. Would be Electric Forest, Lost Lands, or Infrasound.

C: What are some of your goals as an artist for 2022?

XV: My main goal for 2022 is to have at least one release every month, if not more. Also, I would like to mention that I really haven't been producing for that long. March 6th will be my two year production marker. I never did any music stuff beforehand besides DJing. I'm very passionate about music, I just wish I started sooner. But it's never too late to start unless you don't.
